He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn and his children Sherry, Mike (Debbie), Gord (Janice), Patti (Randy). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jeff (Sherrie), Sean, Kristen (Mark), Courtney, Sherri, John and families. Proud great-papa to Mark, Austin and Quinn. Predeceased by grandson Danny. Fred will be forever remembered by his extended family and friends

He was a dedicated 52-year volunteer in the hockey community and especially junior hockey in the Hamilton area. Fred was well known as an avid supporter and fan at all arenas throughout the Niagara Region.

He was named the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Volunteer of the Year in 2012-13 for the Stoney Creek Warriors. With the franchise now in Ancaster, general manager Ryan Kuwabara expressed how important Fred was to the success of the Ancaster Avalanche junior hockey team.

"He gave a lot of his time to the Ancaster Avalanche," said Kuwabara. "He was truly an asset for us in that he was willing to contribute in any way to help our hockey team for which I am truly grateful.

"Fred definitely had a true passion for game of hockey and the players; he will be sadly missed by all the fans and other volunteers he touched throughout our region."
