AVS HOST GUELPH IN EXHIBITION HOME OPENER

ANCASTER (Aug. 23) — The Ancaster Avalanche dropped their second outing of the exhibition season in a 5-1 loss to the Guelph Hurricanes at Morgan Firestone Arena. The Avs, icing an all-rookie lineup, fell behind 2-0 by the end of the first period. 

Tyler Heisey brought the Avs close with a goal at 8:53 of the second period, but the Hurricanes pulled away with three unanswered goals.  Alex Horawski and Justin Vertesi shared goaltending duties for the Avs.  Ancaster's next exhibition action will be a home-and-home set against the Kitchener Dutchmen on Thursday, Aug. 25 (6:15 p.m., Sportworld) and Saturday, Aug. 27 (7:30 p.m., Morgan Firestone Arena.
